A quick look below at Google trends for the term “artificial grass” is quite revealing. It seems that the majority of people search for synthetic turf from March to August, which is actually completely the opposite to what you should be doing.

It makes sense in some ways; March is around the time that garden envy starts kicking in, so it’s not surprising that people tend to wait until the spring before thinking about other options. It would be better, however, to start your search at the end of summer or the beginning of autumn. Here, we’ll explain why it’s best to install artificial grass during the winter.

Softly, softly

The clearest argument for installing your artificial grass in the winter is that it will take a lot easier to the ground. With the conditions causing wet, mild gardens across the country comes the obvious bonus of soft ground. That, in turn, makes it much easier for the installers to lay your new garden surface. Ease of installation equals speed of installation, and far less hassle for everyone involved.

Letting it settle in

An important part of the installation process is the aftermath. Garden parties on the very first day with your new garden aren’t advisable, and your children will have to wait a while before they can play on it. With all of that in mind, winter winds and cold rains are a handy excuse to stay indoors! Your children won’t fancy tearing up your new lawn if it’s a bit bleak outside, and few people are mad enough to host a garden party in such conditions.

Convenience … for now

At the moment, with everyone following the pattern of sorting out their artificial grass in spring, workers are generally a bit less busy during winter. That means you’ll have a greater pick of the best companies, and you won’t need to rush. You can take your time to select the supplier, get quotes from a few different people and are completely free to mull things over for a while.

That might not last forever, though, with people surely likely to catch on at some stage.
